Waterworks System and Facilities

Quezon has three sources of water, classified as follows: rainwater, surface water including river, spring, lake, streams and impounding reservoir and the ground water which can be tapped by digging wells or linking pipes into the water deposits and installation of water drawing equipment like pumps.

The province, being located between bodies of water has abundant water resources for domestic use. The poblacions and some barangays are using pipeline system drawing water from spring being administered or operated by the municipal government and barangay waterworks associations.

Through the assistance of Rural Waterworks Development Council, Barangay Water Program and First Water Supply Sewerage and Sanitation Sector Program of DILG, the province was able to construct Level I (point system), Level II (communal) and Level III (per housing unit) Waterworks Projects.

There are now 38 municipal water districts being administered by the LWUA, while the City of Lucena and Municipalities of Tayabas and Pagbilao are under the Quezon Metropolitan Water District.
