Dog Show 2011: A Success
Dr. Gerald C. Montierro, OIC of the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian spearheaded the Dog Show 2011in the celebration of World Rabies Day with the support of Governor David C. Suarez. The event was truly a delight for pet owners and spectators, held at Perez Park last 28 September 2011. The Province’s First Lady Ms. Anna V. Suarez, a dog enthusiast, graced the occasion and awarded the winners with plaques of appreciation and tokens.
Responsible pet owners of the City of Lucena and Tayabas and the Municipalities of Tiaong, Sariaya and Pagbilao made a parade of their forty-four (44) dogs showing their individual talents, tricks and fashion. Recognizing that not everyone can afford imported dog breeds, the show was highlighted by our local breed: Asong Pinoy or “Aspin”. This indicates that they deserve the same love, care and grooming as their imported counterparts.
The winners in the different categories are as follows: Asong Pasyonista – Mags (Chihuahua) owned by Joce Delgado (Lucena City), Runner-ups- Clark (Shih Tzu) owned by John de los Reyes (Lucena City) and Master Yoda (Shih Tzu) owned by Jennifer Aguilar (Tayabas City); Talentadong Aso - Balbone (Aspin) owned by Maricris Velasco (Lucena City) , Runner-up - Kaily (Shih Tzu) owned by JP Samonte (Tiaong); Asong Pinoy - Balbone (Aspin) owned by Maricris Velasco (Lucena City).
The contest’s board of judges were Dr. Cyril de Vera, a Proprietor - Lucena Grooming, Dra. Ma. Cecillia Martinez , Veterinarian - LGU Pagbilao and Ms. Catherine V. Montierro of Simon Enterprises.
OPV also had a booth for Consultation and Rabies Vaccination all free of charge as promotional venue for “Responsible Pet Ownership” and “Proper Care of Pets”.
The agency wishes to thank the support of Tryco Pharma, Inc., Simon Enterprises, CO Agrivet, Bloomingtails Dog Botique and Grooming Shop, Fern-Cee Company and Royal Canin Enterprise for making the event a real success!
