History

In January 2000, as an impulsive need for the government to respond to the challenges of local governance, national growth and globalization, the Provincial Information Management Office, now Provincial Information and Communications Technology Office was created. This is to complement the Information and Communications Technology plans of the province with the national development goals to enhance accuracy and efficiency in government service and to coordinate and provide an overall framework for the ICT initiatives of the province to be responsive to the call of time.

Mandates & Functions

The Provincial Information and Communications Technology Office shall have the following functions:

  1. Formulate, update and implement the Information System plans of the province;
  2. Improve the delivery of basic services to the people by providing strategic, reliable and cost-efficient information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, system and resources;
  3. Devise a mechanism using information technology for purposes of transparency and accountability in government transactions;
  4. Conduct trainings and seminars to provincial government employees on office productivity (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint), basic computer care and maintenance and system applications for specific departments (e.g. Real Property Tax (RPT) for Assessor's Office, Electronic New Government Accounting System (ENGAS) for Budget and Accounting Department and Personnel Management Information System (PMIS) for HRMO);
  5. Recommend, evaluate and inspect the following: the purchase of latest software, computer parts and peripherals, and the upgrading of computer hardware;
  6. Monitor, repair and configure the IT equipments of the provincial government;
  7. Serve as the Central Repository of all digital files (photographs and video files) of the Office of the Governor;
  8. Assist in the layout and printing of promotional materials of the Provincial Government;
  9. Establish a continuous website development program;
  10. Serve as data gathering partner for the Provincial Tourism Office and Community Empowerment and Development Unit (CEDU);
  11. Provide system development assistance and program designs to the departments and offices of the provincial government;
  12. Perform other related functions as may be deemed necessary and as may be assigned.
