PROVINCIAL GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT (PGAD) OFFICE

 

The Provincial Gender And Development (PGAD) Office, created under Provincial Ordinance No. 2005- 02, shall be the coordinating, monitoring, and regulatory body of the Provincial Government on gender and development.

To provide gender responsive programs, projects and  services that would equitably address the needs and concerns of men and women

Vision

Women and Men of Quezon Province equally contributing to and benefiting from development for a better quality life.

Mandates & Functions

1. Coordinative and Regulatory Functions.  These functions shall assure the realistic, measurable and tangible results in the implementation of the Quezon GAD Code which include:
a.Advocacy and Social Mobilization:

  --- The PGAD Office advocates gender equality and women empowerment and mobilizes partner agencies and various stakeholders for gender mainstreaming at the local level. Activities are undertaken to make the public aware of gender issues and concerns and eventually empower communities especially women.

b.Capacity Building:

  --- Gender-sensitivity education and trainings for all departments and agencies of the Provincial Government and at the municipal/barangay level shall be designed. Standards for contents of the courses shall be established by the office.

c.Data Collection and Management:

  --- Serves as data bank of the Provincial Government on gender and development.

  --- Maintain and improve centralized data banking system on Trafficking and VAWC cases province-wide including effective measures and services.

d.Alliance Building and Networking:

  --- Strengthen partnership with NGOs, People’s Organizations and other agencies, local , national and international.

e.Research, Policy Studies and Documentation:

  --- Shall be involved in all the processes related to the conceptualization, development, assessment and evaluation of population and gender development and advocacy programs of the Provincial Government.

  --- Document best practices on RA 9208 and Ra 9262 implementation and other GAD related activities.

f. Institutional Mechanism:

  --- Developing institutional mechanism for increased coordination and synergy in the approach against violence against women and their children and other GAD concerns

II. Monitoring Functions.

  Monitoring of the implementation of the Quezon Gender and Development (GAD) Code.

a.Referral for Legal Counseling and other appropriate interventions for victims of VAWC.
b.Women and Children Protection Unit
c.Micro-Enterprise Development Program for Women
d.GREAT or the Gender Responsive Economic Actions for the Transformation of Women Project
