The Provincial Government of Quezon, through Governor David “Jayjay” C. Suarez led the distribution of farming equipment to two cooperatives in the towns of San Antonio and Tiaong this March 25, 2013.
Del Valle Multi-Purpose Cooperative received two hand tractors, two multi-tillers, ten push-type weeders, and a grain moisture meter at the turn-over ceremony inBrgy. San Jose, San Antonio, Quezon.
On the other hand, Samahan ng Magsasaka sa Sitio Loob ng Tiaong, Quezon was given a double pass rice mill, a hand tractor with kama-type trailer, a multi-tiller and ten knapsack sprayers.
According to Gov. Suarez, the help given by the provincial government does not end in just providing equipment. They will also provide business and entrepreneurship trainings to strengthen the organizations and makeits members self-sufficient individuals.
The chairpersons of the two cooperatives, Nenita Dela Vega of Del Valle Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and Ariel De Jesus of Samahan ng Magsasaka sa Sitio Loob thanked the hardworking governor and the current administration for the aid they provided.
De Jesus added that, as a sign of their gratitude, they will work together to take care of the equipment and make the most out of it to benefit not only themselves, but other members of the community as well.
The equipment distributed are from the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCESS) Program of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
Farmers from the municipality of San Antonio also received 220 sacks of certified palay seeds from the government.
The two activities were attended by Board Member Bong Talabong, Board Member Gary Estrada, former Board Member Liza Alvarez, San Antonio Mayor Aniano Ariel Wagan, Tiaong Mayor Roderick Umali, former Lucena City Mayor Ruby Talaga, fromer Tiaong Mayor Leleng Umali, members of the municipal councils of San Antonio and Tiaong, as well as the barangay officials of the two towns.(Quezon PIO)
