Over 300 citizens participated in a bloodletting activity at the Quezon Medical Center, this August 15, 2013.
Aside from regular folk, Government employees also took part in donating blood – with participants coming from the offices of the Provincial Governor, Provincial Administrator, Provincial Veterinarian, Provincial Accountant, Community Engagement and Development Unit, Provincial Planning and Development Council, as well as QMC staff.
The Integrated Provincial Health Office, Philippine Nurses Association - Quezon, Provincial Information Communication and Technology Office, Department of Interior and Local Government, Bureau of Fire Protection - Tayabas, and barangay captains from Lucena, Tiaong and Pagbilao also showed their support for the event.
Private and socio-civic organizations such as Pacific Mall, Gino’s Marketing, Guardians (Quezon), and Alpha Phi Omega also had members that took part in the blood donation. Students from St. Agustine School of Nursing, Southern Luzon State University, Calayan Educational Foundation Institute, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation and Inter-Global College were also present at the event.
A student who introduced himself as John said that activities like this attract him and his friends because they are given a chance to help other people while getting a free check up themselves.
Dra. Ana Martinez of QMC encourages Quezonians to support bloodletting activities of the province to ensure the healthy and hefty supply of blood at the QMC Blood Bank, especially since the hospital treats hundreds of patients every day.(Quezon PIO)
