The Provincial Government of Quezon, through the efforts of Quezon Provincial Jail (QPJ) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), conduct a Gift Giving Activity for the detainees with the theme “Sama-samang Handog ng Probinsya, Sa Kapwa, Hatid ay Saya”, held last December 16, 2012 at the QPJ Multi-Purpose Hall.

In her opening speech, Jail Superintendent/Officer-in-Charge Warden Ma. Annie Espinosa proudly announced that it is the first time that the young children of the QPJ inmates were also included in the Provincial Jail’s Christmas party, aiming to give the detainees and their family holiday cheer despite having loved ones behind bars.

Provincial Government Assistant Department Head (PGADH) Norly Labitigan of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) which also assisted in the celebration explained that Governor David “Jayjay” Suarez and PSWDO Department Head Sonia Leyson wishes to create a more meaningful Christmas for the inmates and their families. The Provincial Government hoped that the free meal, gifts, games, and opportunity to be with their loved ones QPJ, PSWDO and Gov. Suarez provided to the inmates would be enough to give their families a memorable Christmas.

Felimon Gollena, 42 years of age and a resident of QPJ for almost 7 years, expressed his gratitude for the care and concern the Provincial Government gives to the Provincial Jail’s detainees. His wife, 6 children and 5 grandchildren attended the Christmas party in the jail with him.

As a sign of the Father of Quezon’s love for the residents of QPJ and through Jail Warden Espinosa’s leadership, the detainees also received additional food, t-shirts, and groceries donated by the employees of the Provincial Government. Currently, QPJ houses 982 inmates. (Quezon PIO)
