With over 700 children from all over the province in attendance, the Provincial Government of Quezon and Governor David “Jayjay” C. Suarez celebrate Children’s Month, with the theme “Bright Child: Siguraduhin, Responsabling Pamamahayag ay Palaganapin” last October 26, 2012.
Gov. Suarez thanked and praised Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Sonia Leyson, the 40 MSWD and PSWD staff in attendance, as well as all the day care workers in Quezon for their dedication and tireless efforts to help, teach, and mold today’s children into good citizens and leaders of tomorrow. He added that new day care centers are continuously being built all over Quezon to accommodate more children. Day care workers also have trainings available for them in order to provide them with knowledge and skills for their job on par with those from well-known schools
Coinciding with the celebration, Gov. Jayjay Suarez and the Provincial Government also took the event as an opportunity toimpart the municipalities of his fair province with the second wave of funding for the Supplemental Feeding Program amounting to a total of Php 65,500,000.00.
The towns of Padre Burgos and Lopez received Php 100,000.00 each for being the Most Friendly Municipality, while the City of Tayabas received recognition as Child-Friendly City and Php 100,000.00 as well.
Singing, Drawing, Folk Dance and Modern Dance competitions were also held during the celebration. The winners for the said categories came from the towns of Atimonan, Mulanay, Unisan, and Calauag, respectively.
