Philhealth cards valid for two years were donated to 89 residents from Brgy. Poblacion of Candelaria, Quezon coinciding with the inauguration of a water source development and pipeline installation project worth 7 million pesos last October 16 in front of the public market at the said municipality. The program was attended by residents, merchants and stallholders from the marketplace.

In the 50 years that passed, only the administration of Quezon Governor David “Jayjay” C. Suarez is able to provide the long sought project to give potable water to the residents of Candelaria. Currently, the water coming from the pipelines of the said area is not fit for drinking and discolor tiles and fixtures.

According to CAMAVESA President Anong Umali, Vendor’s Association President, they cannot even use the water from their faucets to clean the fish they sell. In behalf of his fellow vendors and business folk, he thanked Gov. Suarez for the water source project and added that finally, after 5 decades of waiting, they will finally experience having a clean supply of water.

In the message of Quezon Gov. David “Jayjay” C. Suarez, he said that this is only the beginning for Candelaria. Aside from the 7 million peso project for the public market’s water system, another large-scale water system project is underway for the said municipality. A 25 million worth overhaul for the whole of Candelaria’s water source and pipeline is set to be constructed in the near future.

Mrs. Marissa Añonuevo, a resident of the said town and mother of 6, thanked the Provincial Government and Gov. Suarez for the Philhealth card she received. She said that if anyone from her family will have to be hospitalized, she can rest assured for two years that she will receive assistance in hospitalization and medical expenses. She also added that like the Philhealth cards, the Serbisyong Suarez Health Coupons the Provincial Government disseminates to the Quezonians are a big help to ordinary people like them.

2nd District Senior Board Member Romano Talaga also attended the event and expressed his support for the projects of the Provincial Government. He also said that the board members are also wholly supportive of the programs being set into motion by Quezon’s hardworking governor.
