Incumbent Quezon Governor David “Jayjay” C. Suarez formally filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC ) this October 5th, 1:05 pm at the Provincial Commission on Elections, Capitol Building, Lucena City. Gov. Suarez will be running for his second term as governor under the National Unity Party.
Former congresswoman Aleta C. Suarez also filed her COC and will run under LAKAS NUCD-CMD as congresswoman for the 3rd district.
According to Gov. Suarez, he wishes to continue building Quezonians a bright and secure future. He also added that his performance during his first term will help campaign for him this coming election period. This is attested to by accolades the province has received, such as the Seal of Good Housekeeping conferred by the National Government, and the recognition given by the Department of Education for the programs Gov. Suarez has spearheaded for education. Currently, Quezon is also nominated for the Galing Pook Award because of the novelty of the Serbisyong Suarez Health Coupons and its far-reaching benefits, especially for the poor.
The good Father of Quezon showed his readiness to face other candidates aiming for the position of governor, and he believes that anyone can run for office provided that they went through the proper process. He also expressed his wish that the coming 2013 elections will not affect the everyday work flow in the offices of the Capitol Compound.
Before Gov. Suarez filed his COC, a mass was held at St. Ferdinand Cathedral in Lucena City, presided over by Bishop Emilio Z. Marquez. Bishop Marquez wished Gov. Suarez well for the coming election and congratulated him for his successful current term.
Others who filed their COC’s wereincumbent 3rd District Board Member Victor Reyes allied with NP, Ma. Lourdes Bernadette Ejercito, and Board Member Techie Dator.
Those who filed their COC’s together with Gov. Suarez and Former 3rd District Congresswoman Suarez were Senior Board Member Romano Talaga, Lucena City Administrator Ramon Talga Jr., son of former Board Member Claro Talaga Mr. Gerry “Boy” Talaga and Board Member Lourdes “Bunso” De Luna Pasatiempo. Congressman Danilo “Danny” Suarez also came to show support to his wife and son.(QUEZON PIO)
