The Department of Education hailed Quezon as one of the outstanding provinces to receive recognition this coming September 27, for the said department’s “Adopt-A-School Program Thanksgiving and Recognition for Government Stakeholders”. The good news was announced by Provincial Administration Rommel Edaño during the regular Monday flag raising ceremony last September 24, attended by employees of the Provincial Government in front of the Old Capitol building.

The award is to show DepEd’s acknowledgement of the Provincial Government and Quezon Governor David “Jayjay” C. Suarez’s numerous activities and programs supporting education.

According to PA Edaño, it is a great honor for the good governor to receive such recognition. He added that it is because DepEd sees that the programs being administered throughout Quezon – like funding for the construction and repair of school buildings, construction of completely furnished computer laboratories and day care centers, and the Serbisyong Suarez Scholarship Program which is presently catering toover 5,000 students – is indeed very effective in addressing national educational concerns.

Another pleasant news is Quezon’s inclusion in the list of finalists for the Galing Pook Awards, which is thanks to the province’s Serbisyong Suarez Health Coupon distribution program. Currently, the Quezon is in the 4th stage or “Site Validation Level” of the proceedings after it has passed the Regional and National levels. PA Edaño said that, according to Gov. Suarez, if Quezon will receive the highest distinction for the said awards program, it will be like receiving the FAMAS or Oscar Awards for LGUs. Moreover, it is another reason to inspire everyone in the local government sector to continue and improve the services they perform for the people of Quezon.

Quezon’s Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) also received due recognition as the “most improved” PESO headed by. Atty. Melo Puache.

During the flag ceremony, the Provincial  Government also commended the honor brought to Quezon by Janice Tawagin during the 36th National Milo Marathon that was held at Lipa City, Batangas last September 16. Tawagin, who won gold in the 21-Kilometer Run, is set to vie for the National Finals this coming December in Metro Manila. The young Quezonian runner, who uses her winnings in contests to finance her college education, will face competition from other marathon runners coming from the all over the Philippines.

The employees went home early from work that day after Malacañang issued Proclamation 326, which mandates that every September 4 shall be known as “National FaMEALy Day” or “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day”.(QUEZON PIO)
