FINANCIAL ASSUMPTIONS

Revenue Streams. This project can generate revenues in many ways: through online advertisements, SMS (short messaging service), transaction fees, and Web development services for cooperatives or small and medium enterprises that want to have their own Web sites. We can get 20% of the fee for every SMS inquiry or transaction, which costs about P2 or P2.50 per text message. Even before the e-payment gateway is up and running, QUESO can already get a share in the partner banks’ settlement fees for online payments. Buyers and sellers would be more trusting to do business with clients who have a running account in the affiliate bank not to mention the ease of online remittances that these banks can provide.

Expenses. It is easy to say that the figures we find in the project cost are unrealistic. But it is normal expenses of every e-commerce project, that is why we can say e-commerce is not just for big companies but suits more SMEs’ needs.

Cash Flows. Another normal reaction would come from the figures under Income. But we would rather say it is still a pessimistic estimate. Going back to the figures stated at the executive summary, that part which tells us the size of the “cake” and let us hope that 300 of our farmers were able to register and transact, .5% of the whole market would give us more than those figures. We can notice from the cashflow that after the second year of the operation, we foresee a full return of the project cost. Thus, making this project a very viable one.
