A former barrio of Pollilo, Quezon, its name came from the word "Humalik" meaning kisses, and later became JOMALIG. Natural beach resorts abound the seacoasts in all barangays. It has air strip and mangrove reforestation.
 
Brief History
 

Jomalig, an island of Quezon Province, lies in the Eastern Part of Polillo Group with a distance of 30 nautical miles from the mainland. Jomalig originates from the word "HUMALIK" meaning "KISSED". Its boundaries are Patnanungan Island in the Northwest, mainland in the southwest and the eastern side faces the vast blue Pacific Ocean.

Formerly Jomalig Island is only a barrio of Polillo, Quezon - the mother municipality. On January 23, 1961, the senate and the House of representatives enacted R.A. No. 3572, creating this island from the municipality of Polillo, Quezon and constituted it into a district with the barrioo of Talisoy as the seat of its Municipal Government. The first Mayor and Members of the Municipal Council were appointed by the President of the Philippines.
